I was having a look to see what the latest must haves are and came across some retro designs in furniture. Bright and vibrant colour is in! and so is retro! here are some images i've come across that got me excited.
This classic bentwood chair £99 from The Conran Shop, is based on the iconic 1855 original Michael Thonet model. It's curves are made by steaming wood, bending it and then letting it harden into a curved pattern. The frame is made from solid beech and has a perfectly round beech plywood seat. This chair is quite fashionable at the moment and will make a simple yet stylish addition to a dining room or kitchen.
The extremely durable A Chair from Xavier Pauchard is rumoured to take one hundred manual operations to create it, meaning that no two are entirely the same. The French style bistro chair, launched in 1934, is made of powder coated steel and is both lightweight and extremely durable. Its robustness makes it suitable to be left permanently outside and it can stack up to 10 high The unyielding popularity of the product has resulted in it entering the collections of the Vitra Design Museum, MOMA and the Pompidou Center. Selling at The Conran Shop for £185 a piece the chair is very good quality however if scratched the exposed metal will rust.
The Mademoiselle Chair in missioni fabric is designed by Philippe Starck, the lightweight, robust and innovative design combines an injected moulded base of transparent polycarbonate with a comfortable seat which is covered in a soft fabric. This version features the striking Missioni pattern, which will add a splash of colour to an interior, from the Conran Shop selling at an astonishing £527. I love the injection of wild colour and pattern with the simplistic plain look of the chair legs. A set of these chairs would look incredible as a focal dining point with a glass dining table.
I love this!! This chair is from a website called fashion4home.co.uk and was £688, now £379, The moon chair, was designed by Mike To. The Moon Lounge-style Chair combines retro design with high-tech modern manufacturing methods. The comfortable and lightweight chair is durable, easily cleaned and can be used either indoors or outdoors. If you are looking for a retro touch, or if you just want to add something special to your living space, the Moon series offers all the zest of 60s design with 21st century comfort and durability.
Antoher find that I love is this Firefly Glow Stool again from fashion4home.co.uk costing £79 (was £159). The Firefly collection is a colour selectable lighting system for both inside and out. The Firefly Glow Stool is ideal for putting in the garden, on the terrace or in the living room. The Firefly collection also includes a buoyant, waterproof glow sphere. When switched off, our Fireflys return to their white unlit state. Amazing!!
